RHODE ISLAND FISHING REPORTS - LICENSES - REGULATIONS - MAPS
STATEWIDE - The bonito are around, but they are rewarding patience and perseverance the most.
Baby bunker are dumping out of the rivers and estuaries and that is the bigger picture, and it's a
really good sign for the future.
For now however, things are changing quickly. Hot spots from previous years, especially to the east
around Sakonnet Point and Sachuest, and west to the Westport River, have been pretty dead. An
occassional fish is seen or caught, but the schools are really not fishable.
There were reports from off of the Mansions in Newport, and off of Castle Rock, but these fish have
been here today and gone tomorrow as well. The West Wall had been good, but then cooled off.
Fish have been showing in the Great Pond at the Block, but again, these fish are in smaller schools,
and are only appearing sporadically. That makes it hard, even for the August vacationers who can
put in some time.
