NEW YORK FISHING REPORTS -
LICENSES - REGULATIONS - MAPS.

CAYUGA LAKE
- Cayuga Lake Brown trout fishing continues to be excellent for anglers fishing
around AES (formally Milleken Station). Fishing minnows under floats is producing the most
consistent action. Anglers braving the weather are catching good numbers of browns and salmon
trolling stickbaits around Taughannock Point.

CHAUMONT BAY on Lake Ontario - The day started with light wind and water temperatures in the
low 70s.  We saw mainly sunny skies and the water warmed to 74.3 degrees by the 3 p.m. weigh-in.
On the big lake the wind cooperated and remained light at 5-6 mph from the S/SW.

Burnie Haney returned to the winner's circle on the strength of two top water fish he caught on a
Secret Weapon Lures Buzzbait in baby bass color. His big bass weighed 3.91 lbs. and anchored his
winning limit of 15.42 lbs.  Haney caught two limits of bass by rotating between the SWL buzzbait
and a Lucky Craft Sammy in Aurora Gold color.  When his top water bite faded around 10 a.m.,
Haney went to work with a drop shot rig to present Berkley Chigger Craws in water 11-12 ft deep
and culled some fish.  By noon the drop shot bite ended and Haney finished his day working a
Texas Rigged Chigger Craw in the same general area along the first contour break adjacent to the
main lake and reports catching 25 - 30 bass today. Haney also wore his Ocean Wave Sunglasses
that earned him an additional $150 in ABA contingency prize money.

Taking second place was First Sergeant 1SG Jim Ahern from Fort Drum NY. Ahern brought in a
mixed bag of large and small mouth bass that pulled the scale to 13.97 lbs. and anchored his limit
with a nice 3.48 lb. smallmouth bass. Ahern focused his efforts in 7-10 ft of water on main lake
points using a Texas rigged Yum Wooly Bug. And he threw a Senko, that's always good for a few
fish.

Third Place went to Mike O'Hearn with a solid limit that weighed 13.89 lbs. after he was assessed a
.75 lb. dead fish penalty.  O'Hearn reports fishing main lake points as well and said he had his limit
very early.

Barton Butts secured fourth with a weight of 13.24 lbs. and Rick Brodeur rounded out the top five
with a weight of 11.46 lbs. Brodeur also had a whopper smallmouth weighing 4.26 lbs. that took the
lunker honors for the tournament.

LAKE ERIE - The high waters in Erie's tributaries has subsided and the small to medium feeder
streams are in good fishing shape. Currently, waters are flowing green with a minimal amount of
slush ice in the early morning hours. Chautauqua, Canadaway and Eighteen Mile Creeks have
been productive this season and are a good bet for steelhead this week, depending on the amount
of precipitation the latest storm will bring. Anglers have taken steelhead and brown trout on egg
sacs, egg patterns, wooly buggers and other fly patterns.

Cattaraugus Creek flow is a little high at about 1000 cfs and will likely rise with the hardy amount of
precipitation in the forecast. A couple of Cattaraugus Creek feeder streams that are an option are
South Branch Cattaraugus Creek and Clear Creek on the reservation. Conditions are good on
these creeks and anglers have taken some steelhead this week on egg sacs and a variety of fly
patterns.

With the onset of ice and snow, winter season angling on Erie's tributaries can be a challenging and
potentially hazardous outing. Safety is as important as having the right bait or flies. Some helpful
items that you may want to take with you are neoprene waders, ice grippers for boot soles, a
walking stick or hiking pole and whenever possible a fishing companion. Also, to keep your rod
guides ice-free, apply Vaseline or Chap Stick to the guides.

Lake Erie Harbors and Marinas Catches out of Erie Basin Marina have been mostly perch, with
some steelhead and smelt mixed in. To ensure that the city keeps the area open to anglers, be sure
not to leave any trash behind and stay off of the docks. Small Boat Harbor continues to get plenty of
fishing pressure. Anglers report modest catches of perch, bluegill and rainbow smelt. Anglers have
taken a few steelhead from the Dunkirk Harbor fishing platform and city pier this week. Most were in
the 18-22 inch range, with spoons and jigs receiving the most strikes. Ice is in good shape in
Barcelona Harbor. Anglers have taken a few steelhead and brown trout through the ice with shiners.

ONEIDA LAKE - No Report

LAKE ONTARIO & SALMON RIVER - The water level has been running around 900 cfs. Most of the
steelhead action is taking place in the upper section of river from Pineville to the Lower Fly Zone.
Anglers fishing in the Lower Fly Zone, Schoolhouse Pool, Wire Hole, Ellis Cove and Trestle Pool are
having the most consistent action. Good baits have been egg sacs, beads, nymphs and streamers.

OSWEGO RIVER - The water level is running about 15,000 cubic feet per(cfs), with the warm
weather and rain this flow rate will probably be increasing. There are steelhead and browns in the
river with fish hitting jigs, egg sacs, chartreuse estaz flies, and black Woolly buggers. Good areas
are the southeast corner of Vareck Street Dam, the Kiddie Pool, along the river walk, and behind
the hotels.

SENECA LAKE - Seneca Lake Northern pike fishing is still red hot for anglers fishing off the pier in
Watkins Glen with many pike in the 8 to 10 pound range being caught. Pike are hitting spoons,
stickbaits, Rat-L-Traps and minnows. Perch fishing continues to be good for anglers fishing off the
fishing pier with small minnows. Anglers that are getting out in boats are catching good numbers of
perch, along with a few brown trout in 30 feet of water on minnows. Some trout are also being
caught on stickbaits fished very slowly on the surface. Letting baits sit motionless for one to two
minutes and then twitching them is working best.

SKANEATELES LAKE - Lake Fishing from shore with marshmallow/worm rigs is still producing good
action for rainbow trout along with the occasional landlocked salmon. The NYSDEC boat launch has
been closed for the season.
