KENTUCKY FISHING REPORTS -
LICENSES - REGULATIONS - MAPS

CAVE RUN LAKE - Bass - Sand flats and shallow waters, Plastic Worms, Spinnerbaits, and Top
Water Lures.
Crappie - Good. Bulldawgs and Medium /Large Bulldawgs (pull along these weed edges & work
them like a jerkbait)
Crankbaits  and Jerkbaits.  I suggest Believers, Stalkers & Super Stalkers.  Any glide bait and jerk
baits should yeild some action although it is harder to locate them right now.
Muskie - The lake has cleared up almost too good. The weed growth is awesome which will make for
a killer fall. The boys have seen fish and caught a few over the last week but for the most part they
have been following  Fish have moved to the usual early summer spots; Flats and Weed Edges.
With Spinner Baits, Bull Dawgs and Slowies leading the way, with early morning and late evening top
water action. Get on the weed edges and throw. Also heard of a few being caught trolling around
the flats.

CEDAR CREEK LAKE - Bass excellent on tubes and jigs. Occasional Keepers and lots of 14 to 18
inches inch fish.
Big Shellcrackers still catching good numbers to 10.5 inches on red worms. Good fish coming on
Popeye and wax worm as well as worms and nightcrawler pieces. Still on the bed.
Crappie - keeper crappie being caught. No limits, some fish still shallow, most are moving deep.
Catfish - Excellent, on chicken livers, stink baits. Lots of small fish good numbers of larger fish over
3 pounds. average 14 to 15 inches long to 20 inches. Still full of eggs and still biting.

CUMBERLAND LAKE - Smallmouth Bass are biting spinnerbaits and soft plastics off main lake
points.  Kentucky and Largemouth are being caught on plastic worms and top-water early and late.
Walleye continue to bite early and late in the day by fishing bottom bouncers and vertical jigging off
main lake points and flats 25-30 feet down.  Stripers  are schooling and are being taken on the main
lake near river and creek channels in the early mornings by down rod methods using live bait and
down rigging jigs with trailers 30 to 45 feet down over deep water.  Below the Wolf Creek National
Fish Hatchery and in the Cumberland River, Trout can be caught on spinners, salmon eggs,
nightcrawlers, and corn.

KENTUCKY and BARKLEY LAKES - CRAPPIE: Crappie fishing is improving on both lakes. Brush
piles on the main lake in 12 to 20 feet of water have been producing fair to good numbers of
crappie. Live minnows or hair jigs fished very slowly have been the most productive.

BASS: Smallmouth fishing is fair on Kentucky Lake's east side early and late in the day using
surface lures fished at creek mouth and main lake points. Largemouth can be taken inside the
creeks near grass beds using surface lures or plastic worms.

WHITE BASS: White bass fishing is slow on both lakes. Some whites have been taken on humps
near the main lake channel in 12 to 20 feet of water. Casting or trolling has been productive during
times of current.

BLUEGILL: Bluegill fishing is good on both lakes. Bluegill can be taken on shallow points at creek
mouths and in shaded areas such as boat docks or fallen trees. Crickets or red worms have
produced the best.

SAUGER: Sauger fishing is slow on both lakes.

CATFISH: Catfish fishing is fair to good on both lakes using cut bait, night crawlers, or live minnows
fished on the bottom near the channel in 30 to 40 feet of water.

TAYLORSVILLE LAKE - Largemouth on small lizards, shallow crankbaits, and a couple of hits on
spinnerbaits. All bites came from main lake points in 4-10 ft of water.
