INDIANA FISHING REPORTS -
LICENSES - REGULATIONS - MAPS.

BASS LAKE
- No Report

CAGLES MILL LAKE - Crappie - Reports that small crappie are being caught at levels 12 ft and a
few larger ones at 18 ft.

LAKE MICHIGAN - Coho - East Chicago anglers reported action along the Inland Steel Wall in
water depths ranging from 23-35 FOW. Anglers fishing NE of the gong reported a pretty good bite
as well in water depths to 73 FOW. Michigan City anglers reported action north to northeast of the
lighthouse in water depths between 85-105 FOW. Spoons & dodger & fly combinations have been
the most effective lures. Bring along a wide color assortment because feeding preferneces change
almost on a daily basis.
Steelhead - No action reported by boat anglers this past week. No action to report off the Michigan
City Pier or harbor area over the past week. Action should pick up in the coming weeks. Top baits
include shrimp, nightcrawlers & alewifes 4-8 ft. under a float. Wobbler type spoons (blue/chrome,
green/chrome, orange) can also be effective at times. Also, try large spinners with orange blades.
No creek action to report either. Productive baits & lures this time of year include shrimp or
nightcrawlers under a float, spinners with black, brass or orange blades & finally, small jigs tipped
with waxworms.
Smallmouth Bass - Majority of the action is taking place out of the EC Marina. Anglers have stated
that action is occurring along the Inland Steel Wall, the rip rap outside the EC Marina & over at
Gary's Light. Other good areas to try include the rip rap on the north side of Hammond Marina & the
submerged breakwater as well. Look for SMB to congregate on man-made structure or rocky rip
rap. Action around Burns harbor has picked up as well. Try fishing around the outer breakwalls with
tube jigs & deep diving crankbaits. Tube jigs that resemble gobies & crankbaits have been the most
effective. At times, live bait offerings such as minnows have been extremely effective for
bronzebacks.
Yellow Perch - YP action turned on this past weekend in southern LM. Hammond boat anglers
reported action near the casino in water depths to 16 FOW & over in the Calumet Park area in
water depths between 25-33 FOW. EC anglers reported good action both inside & outside the
marina entrance & over at Gary's Light in water depths to 27 FOW. Portage Marina anglers
reported action just outside the "ditch" in water depths between 24-35 FOW. MC anglers reported
very good action outfront of Mt. Baldy/Black's Ditch in water depths between 28-45 FOW. Shore
anglers fishing off the fishing platform in EC reported a number of YP harvested over the past week.
YP have been averaging between 9-11 inches.

MISSISSINEWA LAKE - Crappie - Fishing fair at this time, small population.
Bluegill - Fish around exposed wood and next to rocky ledges. Fishing fair to good. Reports of nice
bluegill being caught from banks.
Catfish - Fishing fair to good.
Largemouth Bass - Fishing good. Fish shallow on warmer days. afternoons best. Reports of large
populations of bass in lake.
Walleye - Best late evening and night in lake. Released small walleye into lake in June.

MONROE RESERVOIR - Largemouth Bass - Most are looking in the standing timber and weed
areas.
Crappie - Fish are well up into the water covered areas.

PATOKA LAKE - Bluegill - A few reports of fish on beds in the shallows.
Catfish - Fishing is pretty good at dusk and dawn as fish feed on the shallow flats.
Largemouth Bass - Fishing has began to slow with rising water temps.
Striped Bass - Fish should be in deep water near the thermocline looking for baitfish.
Crappie - Fishing has tailed off for the summer, but still some fish being caught in deeper water.

ROUSH LAKE - Catfish - Fish are active at night as temperatures warm. Feeding in shallow waters
of the main lake. Cut bait and leeches are working the best.
White Bass - Fish are working the flats in the main lake.
Crappie - Fishing is best around submerged stumps in front of campground and across from
Kil-So-Quah boat ramp. Fishing has slowed as recent rains have lake to become turbid and off
color.

SALAMONIE RESERVOIR - Bluegill - Bluegill are starting to bite a little better. If you know the guy
named "Bluegill" you know he is the expert on bluegill, AND he says they are starting to bite. They
are biting on bee-moth, crickets and wigglers, whatever they are. The size is not too much to brag
about, only 7 to 9 inches, but that is big enough to eat. For your information, Ed has a new supply
of crickets in. Get them while they are still available. The bait used is either bee moth, crickets,
wigglers or worms. Fish deep for them because they are off the beds and in deep water. Ed still has
a few of the jig tubes available, also.
Catfish - Catfish are said to be biting, too, on chicken livers, night crawlers, shad and chubs The
limit is 10 in the reservoir water with no size limit. There is no bag limit in streams but the size must
be at least 10".It's nothing to catch a nice bag of catfish for dinner. Yummy!
Walleye - The time was just right for walleye this week. We heard thay are biting down below the
dam at the forks. It was reported and pictures were taken of a couple big ones. One weighed 5
pounds, and the other one weighed 7 pounds. Nothing was listed as to what they were caught on.
Crappie - Go after them deeper now. They say they are getting them at the 16 feet deep level
around brush and stumps. They are finished spawning or bedding now and they are deep now. The
size is down to 10 to 12 inches. This week found one angler who said he caught 38 crappie this
week, not necessarily all at the same time and they were all 10 to 12 inches If there is any indication
about what they are biting on, Ed has sold about 12,000 jug tubes in the past 2 weeks, and of
course, the minnows are in good supply. Ed says they are biting on minnows, jigs and jig tubes. You
can't go wrong on what Ed recommends.

ST. JOSEPH RIVER - Steelhead - The spring steelhead migration is over. A total of 8,498 steelhead
have been counted moving through the South Bend fish ladder this spring which brings the total
steelhead number up to 10,402 fish since the run began last fall. See you this fall.

SUMMIT LAKE - Crappie - Crappie fishing had been good but I think they are in post-spawn
recovery as the catch has dropped off. It should pick back up soon. Most have been running 7-10
inches with some larger. Try the stick-ups in deeper water.
Bluegill - The bluegill catch has picked up. They may have started to spawn.
Catfish - Channels are biting.
Largemouth Bass - Bass have been active with most of the larger ones being caught in low light or
night.
Walleye - A few walleyes have been caught. Walleyes prefer low light conditions.
Yellow Perch - The perch population is smaller than it was several years ago but the average size is
larger.
